The Standard American Diet ("SAD," see box, below) is not helping our kids, contributing  to obesity, diabetes, and other chronic ailments.

MeMeals can work with you and your family to provide meals that utilize whole foods, are nutritious, and reduce or eliminate many of the negative aspects of SAD.

The Standard American Diet

The Standard American Diet (SAD) contains many potential pitfalls for developing children:

Sugar -- Added sugar is prevalent in most processed foods.  Simple carbs (white rice, white bread, etc.) are converted to sugar almost immediately.  Excess sugar can affect digestion (yeast overgrowth in the gut) and behavior.

Gluten and casein -- the proteins found in wheat and dairy, can sometimes enter the bloodstream undigested, causing inflammation to the digestive system and a variety of symptoms to body organs.

Artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives -- contain phenols and other complex compounds that can be toxic to some bodies.

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) -- found in many processed foods, can affect glutamate levels, a powerful neurotransmitter the imbalance of which can affect behavior.

Artificial sweeteners - can affect digestion, the liver, or other organs.
