SPECIAL DIETS

If your child has ADHD, is on the autistic spectrum, or has some other developmental delay, you may have been told by a doctor that there is not much you can do.

MeMeals believes that diet can often help in such cases, improving behavior and giving your child the greatest chance to reach his full potential.

Poor digestion and sensitivity to certain foods can inhibit the absorption of nutrients, affecting the body's ability to provide nutrients to the brain and other organs, manifesting as symptoms affecting virtually any of the body's organs.

Unfortunately it can be difficult to diagnose these problems, and there is no simple test to find out what foods are causing problems.  The easiest (and cheapest) approach is to eliminate foods that commonly cause problems, observe behavioral changes, and go from there.

Gluten and casein are complex proteins found in wheat and dairy that are often difficult to digest.  In some cases these proteins enter the bloodstream before being broken down, causing the body to treat them as foreign toxins and invoking an immune response.

A gluten free and casein free (GFCF) diet can be difficult to implement without help.  Gluten is "hidden" in many ordinary foods, children can be very picky eaters, and full elimination of foods containing these proteins is a huge undertaking.
